Adrienne Williams' Home Town

Adrienne Williams' latest exhibition opened in her new home town of Mt Perry recently. This exhibition of sketches and oil paintings shows some of Adrienne's work in progress for the joint Childers/Las Cruces USA exhibition in October, and at Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane.

Jane Creenaune residency

Jane Creenaune has recently completed a short residency at Cowwarr Art Space in Gippsland, Victoria. During this time Jane worked on developing marble carving skills as an adjunct to her sculpture work. She was fortunate to have well-known Australian sculptor Clive Murray-White on site for advice. In October Jane will travel to China for a month-long residency based in Redgate's Beijing studios. Her project there will develop new work incorporating local products and technical skills.

Nick Olsen at CoolArt

Nick Olsen is exhibiting new work at CoolArt Gallery at Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast. A selection of recent still life painting is on show throughout June .

The work is part of a series titled 'Washed Up' and involves paintings of found objects from sunshine coast beaches. Recent storms have eroded many of these beaches exposing an array of broken shell, coral as well as human made bits and pieces such as an old dolls hand. Ross Booker in Broken Hill

Art works by Ross Booker have been chosen as finalists in both the Broken Hill Regional Gallery’s Outback Open Art Prize and the Lethbridge 10000 Small Scale Art Award for 2013. The Lethbridge 10000 is being held at the Lethbridge Gallery 136 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, Brisbane Qld, from 15 June - 30 June. The Outback Open Art Prize is on at the Broken Hill Regional Gallery, Argent Street, Broken Hill NSW from 6 July - 18 August. Ross’ art practice is based on his many years of travel in central Australia.

Lesa Hepburn Redlands installation

Lesa Hepburn was recently part of the Redlands Ignite Festival . Lesa Hepburn created an installation titled “Peoples of the Tiny Houses” that was installed on the palm trees near the Council chambers. Based on the notion of “the lightness of being” the artwork of paper fondue heads was made from recycled cotton rag pulp, recycled office paper & hand rolled hibiscus string.

New AJ Taylor Exhibition

A.J. Taylor's upcoming exhibition Approaching Stradbroke will open at Jan Murphy Gallery on 9 July 2013. In a series of elongated panels, from panoramas of Stradbroke Island and Moreton Bay to studies of South Gorge and Main Beach in atmospheric afternoon light and groups of paperbarks at Stradbroke's Brown Lake, Taylor continues his conversation with the tradition of Australian landscape painting. Tony Nugent in Grafton

Tony Nugent is part of the 2013 Postcard Show at the Grafton Regional Gallery in Prentice House from 15 May - 30 June. There are 93 artworks varying from sculptural forms to oils and watercolours that have been donated by well known local and regional artists, each of these can be bid on during a silent auction with the minimum bidding price of $20. On Sunday 30 June at 2.00pm Matt Dougherty will whip visitors into a final bidding frenzy by facilitating a final auction and officially closing the exhibition. The 2013 Postcard Show is a fundraiser for the 2014 Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award.

Jocelyn Thompson in Simply the Best 2

Jocelyn Thompson's series of 7 images has been selected for “Simply the Best 2”, an international juried exhibition run by Digital Arts California, on-line to July 2013. View the images on her website. The judges chose Jocelyn's work from a highly competitive field of talented digital photographers and artists from 27 countries. They said Jocelyn’s images are "brilliant examples of abstract digital photography – colorful, creative and influenced by abstract expressionism". Jocelyn is an award-winning visual artist from Brisbane, whose work has been exhibited in 15 shows. Her images play with light, “pure light, sky light and light reflected from water and rocks”.

Aria Stone Cliftons Art Prize finalist

Aria Stone has been selected as a finalist in the Cliftons Art Prize with her recent painting ‘Whisper’. Stone said of the work, "The painting represents the loss of my partner and the memories that linger after his passing. Sometimes it feels as though he is here with me whispering his love in the silence of my empty house.” The four week exhibition period showcases finalist artworks. It begins on Tuesday 28 May and concludes at the Award Evening on 4 July. The exhibition will take place at Level 2, 10 Moore Street, Canberra City.

Joyce Blanche at Rotary Art Spectacular

Joyce Blanche has been accepted as a featured artist in the 2013 Rotary Art Spectacular, to be held at Riverside Centre (123 Eagle Street, Brisbane, Qld) from 11-20 April. Proceeds from the 34th annual exhibition will benefit the Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland and Rotary's ROMAC organisation.

Ross Booker, Pene Edwards and Carol Roche are taking part in an exhibition, The Red Centre, which is currently showing at Marks and Gardner Gallery, (69 Main Western Road, North Tamborine). The exhibition continues to April 20th. Ross Booker has been travelling to Central Australia on regular artists camps since 2008. Ross is working toward a publication on his experiences in the Centre, including his artworks from the camps, to be published later this year.

Karl de Waal's journey through Dada

Karl de Waal is exhibiting at Lethbridge Gallery (136 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, QLD). Boundary Riding - A Journey Though Dada opens on Saturday 13 April at 3pm and continues until the 25 April 2013. de Waal's collection of new work conceptually links to our state of dislocation and desensitization.
